Introduction to Microgreens
$60.00

Sunday, May 24 | 2PM - 4PM

Join farmer Nicole Petti for a crash course on all things microgreens! In this hands-on class, we'll learn about the health benefits of these edible seedlings, as well as how to use them and grow them at home.

During class, we’ll explore the flavor profiles of fresh microgreen samples, how to pair them with fresh Sang Lee produce, and learn the basics of growing them at home — all you need is a windowsill or other sunny location!

Participants will be guided in the creation of an upcycled grow kit to take home, and will have their own microgreens to harvest in just eight days!  This class is ideal for anyone that is wanting to add some flare to their plate, is interested in cultivating nutrient dense food in an accessible way, or wants to demonstrate to their family and friends that you, too, can grow your own food!

Participants will leave with a completed microgreens grow kit, as well as a detailed handout with recipe ideas!

MEET THE INSTRUCTORS

Nicole Petti has been growing microgreens for nearly a decade. She first discovered her love for this super food as a consumer while working at the Greenmarkets in NYC. She then moved to Austin, Texas where she learned the ropes of leading a growing operation by working at a zero waste microgreens farm called Joe's Organics. Here, she also gleaned a bit of business sense from the farm owner, Joe Diffie.

All of this experience lead her to running a business of her own, a grow shop called Urban Coyote Farm in Wading River. She sells her freshly harvested, double washed microgreens to a number of farmstands across the East End.  She also offers a microgreens subscription and will deliver directly to your door!

Urban Coyote Farm is all about spreading the joy of microgreens by hosting a handful of workshops this season for the North Fork community. Nothing is more joyful than a small tray of microgreens basking on your windowsill that you have carefully cultivated with your own hands! They're relatively easy to grow with some basic knowledge, and adding them to all of your dishes is like adding a shot of flavor, nutrition & delight. She is so excited to invite everyone into the amazing world of growing microgreens here at Sang Lee Farms.

Sarah Borg is a certified personal trainer and owner of Little Miss Fit located here on Long Island. Before becoming a personal trainer, she spent over six years working in the physical therapy field, where she developed a strong foundation in movement.

Her approach to fitness is centered around helping women feel strong and confident, no matter what stage of life they are in. She also believes movement should be supportive and individualized, not intimidating or one-size-fits-all. Her goal is always to create an experience where fitness feels good, and is something that supports both physical and mental well-being!
